Production week 1

Hi fellow Game Dev's and Game enthousiasts,

After 3 weeks of coming up with game ideas, testing mechanics and creating a praticle structure (artbible, technical design documents, ...) we went into production!
Our previous code was hastely made just to get an idea across. So we started over. Clean slate, clean code.
Our main priority was getting the game running again. The gifs you'll find underneath will give a better idea what that means.

New Movement:
New physics based movement: we can assign weights to objects to determine if they can be pushed and how easily they get pushed. The movement is way smoother, works with accceleration and feels more realistic. There is also some breaking that slows down your movement gradually when stopping. You can also push other objects with proper collision now.

Jumping:
Jumping is now done with physics aswell. This makes the jump feel more realistic and gives you a little bit of control in the air.

Tagging and Diving:
Tagging and diving implemented with the new movement mechanics. Feels smoother and is easier to tweak.

Sliding and Tackling:
Same as tagging, implemented with the new movement. As a result this also feels smoother and gives a little bit of control during the slide.

Environment
Our beloved destructible floating island got a visual update, the crumbling already looks even more visually impressive. Next up: dressing it with more plants and adding playground obstacles!

Character:
The base mesh that all kid characters will have has gotten into shape!
Right now, we're about to finish up the main rig for the characters but made some great progress so far. We already managed to get the face in expressive motions so we can go crazy with the animations and show a varity of emotions. This step is crucial because kids will tend to get emotional very easily!

Topology Character:
The topology needs some work but is almost there.

Mouth Character:
We made sure that the tongue could stick out and get squatched and stretched! Because how else would you insult your classmates?

Thats it for this week! We hope you are all hyped for more updates!

Greetings,
The Tag Team.
